Invited Session Proposal Submissions

Invited session proposals are solicited for the 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2018), to be held on the July 23–27, 2018, in Valencia, Spain.

Proposals for invited sessions must reach the Co-Chairs of the Technical Program Committee by October 6, 2017. This deadline will be strictly observed, and no deadline extension will be given.

Each proposal should include

• Chair and Co-Chair names, institutional affiliations and contact information
• Session title
• Brief description of session with keywords
• A short abstract (with at least 500 words)
• List of potential invitees
• the associated IGARSS 2018 theme (see list of topics at https://igarss2018.org/Papers/PaperTopics.asp)
• Only 9 or 10 paper full sessions will be considered, with the first paper being a 40-minute overview 'tutorial' if nine papers are included.

As with previous years the chair and co-chair should confirm that their potential invitees are willing to make a commitment to attend and deliver a presentation at the Symposium in Valencia in July 2018, should the proposed invited session be accepted into the technical program.

When seeking such commitment, we suggest that the chair and co-chair of the invited session advise the invited presenters that a place for the session in the final technical programme cannot be guaranteed, as the competition for invited session places is strong and the number of such sessions is limited.

The following topics have been designated as special interest for IGARSS 2018. Special session proposals covering these topics are specifically encouraged.

• Close range remote sensing
• Big machine learning in remote sensing
• Global Essential variables form satellite observations
• Advances in model-data integration and assimilation
• New remote sensing techniques and methods
• Education and outreach in remote sensing and geosciences
